Scholarships

A range of scholarships are designed to support graduate students and those newly graduated to undertake research that contributes to the goals of He Whenua Taurikura.

The application round has closed for 2024 He Whenua Taurikura Master’s and PhD scholarships.

These scholarships are open to students enrolling, or planning to enrol, at any New Zealand university or tertiary institute. Scholarships require a formal application and are awarded on the recommendations of He Whenua Taurikura Research Committee.

He Whenua Taurikura Master’s Research Grant 2024

The Master’s grant are intended to encourage and support postgraduate research on countering and preventing terrorism and violent extremism in the context of Aotearoa New Zealand.

  • The funding provides grants valued at $15,000
  • Number of Masters grants available in 2024: variable

He Whenua Taurikura PhD Scholarship 2024

The PhD scholarships are intended to encourage and support postgraduate research on countering and preventing terrorism and violent extremism in the context of Aotearoa New Zealand..

  • The funding provides a stipend of up to $44,000 annually plus domestic tuition fees for up to three years.

Research Funding

He Whenua Taurikura supports research that contribute to the Centre’s mission and objectives. Funding is awarded through a competitive process to research proposals that contribute to the goals of He Whenua Taurikura. Information about 2024 research funding, and the call for applications, will be posted on this site.
